The Power to Create

Since we have been waiting to audition the new LifeDance Troupe, I have been holding open creative dance classes for anyone who wants to come in the evening.  So far we have had two classes, and I'll tell you what-- tonight's class was magic.

I admit, when I started tonight's class I didn't know what to expect.  I thought I had a plan, but when I arrived in the dance space, I knew the plan was going to change.  I didn't know why... but I felt it.  As the class unfolded, I felt that a power beyond me was handing me the lesson plan, bit by bit.  I was amazed as I witnessed the students understand the concepts being taught.  They were learning, and they were putting it into immediate practice.  By the end of the one hour class, every student present had the opportunity to create and show their creations to their peers.  It was powerful.

It's breathtakingly spectacular to see what happens when we tap into the power to create.  It's a divine gift.  Just as God created this world and everything in it, we as His children have been given the capacity to create.  And I don't only mean the typical artistic creations we see with music, drama, dance, and visual art.  These could be creations with relationships, new methods for surgeries, strategies for more efficient organization, travel plans, and so on.  We are using this power to create every day!  With this power comes the responsibility to use it for good-- to use it to inspire, uplift, and bless lives.

So when I see the students in this creative dance class tapping into their own power to create, I find it magnificent.  It is my hope that these students will always remember what it feels like to create, and that they will recognize this power-- this God given power-- to create goodness in their lives and the lives of others.

I'm grateful God gave me the lesson plan that He did, bit by bit-- that He inspired the creation.
