Colony Jammin'
Some people are born to be professional dancers. Some people simply dance for enjoyment. Some people claim they can't dance. And some people feel the music and can't help but move their bodies.
Meet Saleema, the wife of the colony leader in Chettipunniyam (a leprosy colony).
Saleem is one of those who feels the music and starts moving. After touring the colony and visiting with several of the families there, we threw on some music and started a dance party. Although most people enjoy watching rather than participating this beautiful woman put her heart out there in movement. She moved with grace and pure bliss. Her feet have become deformed due to the leprosy, but that's not excuse for her-- she still dances! I love her!
In conclusion, here are some photos from the colony for you to enjoy:
Londyn and me livin' the dream! Gonna miss this kid!
A grandmother offering a "pocket pal" I made to her grandson.
The grandson considering the pocket pal, haha.
Side Notes:
1. I did Shalay's hair this morning on the bus, and it turned out pretty sweet! Ambica and Kavitha (two of the RSO house mothers who went with us) provided clips and the flower to make it possible :)
2. Life Dance is doing great :) I need to get some better fotos of them, but I am excited about the progress I've seen with them and the energy that they have!
