Color Your World

One thing that I've appreciated in India is the wealth of colors.  Everywhere we go I see vibrant shades of every color of the rainbow.  From clothing to buildings, and from food to decorations-- everything is alive with color.

Today we visited Pallumbakkum-- the same colony I went to a week ago.  I saw many of the same people there, and it was fun to see how many of them recognized me!  This visit was different though-- very different.  One of the volunteers in the group had brought materials to make what we call Ojo de Dios.  The colors of the yarn simply added to the vibrant textures of the people clothing.  I was pleasantly surprised by how well the people engaged with activity!  Many of them went on to make 3 or 4 of them!

I dare say that there have been some disappointments here and there along this adventure-- but I've also noticed that much of the way I feel about these things has a direct correlation to my attitude.  I must consciously choose the way I color my world each day-- like how we colored the colony with Ojo de Dios today.  Some people even use the analogy of picking up their paint bucket each day so that they can paint their day with good things.  Remember when I talked about the "bleh" day, and how everything seemed gray?  Sometimes it really is a matter of if I choose to pick up my paint bucket and color my world or not...

I hope that I can spend the remainder of my time here in India adding to the color that is already present-- bringing my paint bucket with me, everywhere I go!
